After spending a long time searching for a company that is oily-skin friendly, I came across Then I Met You. I figured I should try their Calming Tide Gel Cream. I had a great experience. Now I am ready to share it with the rest of the world. Here is my Then I Met You Calming Tide Gel Cream review

Lightweight White Gel

The Then I Met You Calming Gel Cream comes in a pastel-blue colored case. On their site, they referred to it as pebble-shaped. The cream comes with an easy-twist cap and the design makes it perfect for traveling. I love the design and it’s my first time seeing something like this.

This moisturizer is more like a runny gel so it differs from the usual drugstore creams. It is a creamy white color and has a slight scent that reminds me of Fruit Loops for some odd reason. Before I apply this cream, I use the Then I Met You Cleansing Balm to properly cleanse my skin.

First Impressions

The Then I Met You Calming Tide Gel Cream has a nice water texture that absorbs easily into my skin. It feels like my face is drinking a big glass of water. My skin always feels smoother to the touch and this cream keeps me hydrated in the most perfect way. It never peels or feels sticky in any kind of way.

My favorite part is that it’s lightweight and since I have an oily skin type, I don’t really need a thick layer of cream. What surprises me most is just how little of the product I actually have to apply. The tiniest amount gets the job done since it spreads so easily.

I also forgot to mention that it’s important to use a good toner to make your skincare routine really come together. For me personally, the Then I Met You Birch Milk Toner gets the job done perfectly! I really recommend it, if you want to achieve soft textured skin.

A Dream for Oily Skin

Thanks to the Then I Met You Gel Cream, my skin feels brighter and more refreshed. It is one of the few creams that don’t make my face feel oily. And since there’s no thick layer of product on the skin, my face can actually breathe under this cream. It feels like I’m not wearing my usual moisturizer.

I think that if you have dry skin, this won’t provide enough moisture for you. But it’s perfect for oily skin types and never feels heavy. Unfortunately, I do have some dry areas on my face, so I sometimes need to go in with another thicker moisturizer that packs in extra hydration.

This gel cream somehow keeps my skin beautifully moisturized throughout the whole day. It works well under sunscreen, makeup, and other creams. It also acts as a primer for the rest of my makeup products. My makeup stays on longer and looks better if I use it with the cream.

Conclusion

I think the Then I Met You Calming Tide Gel Cream is perfect for oily skin and acne-prone skin. My face stopped producing excess oil, so it’s safe to say my skin feels more balanced. It worked well for me and I will keep using this, especially during warmer months.

This cream-gel cleared up my face from reoccurring blemishes and redness while making my skin feel a lot healthier and happy. I know some people have complained about the price but I think it’s pretty fitting. It easily competes with the more high-end moisturizers.

If you need some additional moisture, this cream will do just that. It helps with sebum control, which helps with oily skin.
