The design of the Then I Met You Essence is absolutely beautiful. The bottle is a pastel blue that fades into a bubblegum purplish-pink color. I personally love the colors and this brand always manages to make its products look delicious. This bottle also has a neat twist cap, which makes it easier to open.
The essence is a gorgeous pink color and has a nice shiny finish, which makes it look extra edible. If I had to guess what this liquid would taste like, it would be strawberries. And from all the other essences I’ve tried, this is the thickest and richest. It is slightly thicker than water but not quite as thick as a serum.
It’s important to mention that the Then I Met You Giving Essence does have a slight scent. It smells really nice yet you almost don’t even notice it. The scent reminds me of something but I’m not certain as to what it is. My favorite part is that this essence is oil-free, which is perfect for my skin type!
Dewy Moisturized Finish
Before I use this essence, I cleanse my skin with the Then I Met You Soothing Tea Gel. You don’t need to apply a lot of the Then I Met You The Giving Essence to feel its effects. It absorbs nicely into my skin and leaves more of a dewy moisturized finish, so if that’s what you’re looking for, it’s perfect!
This essence doesn’t make my skin feel greasy or sticky. I do sometimes feel a little bit of a stinging sensation but it’s not painful. But my skin is more on the sensitive side, so this feeling is nothing out of the norm for me. Fortunately for me, the burning sensation did not reoccur later on.
If you have some bumps, the Then I Met You Essence will help reduce them. It prevents future outbreaks and I haven’t experienced any new pimples while using this. I haven’t noticed a difference in my pores though so I don’t know if it does anything for that.

The Then I Met You Giving Essence makes my skin feel plump and calm. It also provides some brightening effects while helping smooth out any uneven skin texture. This essence is very hydrating so it definitely helps your skin retain more water. It’s perfect to use during Winter exactly for this reason.
When my skin is drier and the weather gets colder, this essence takes care of my skin. It provides the perfect amount of hydration so my skin feels healthier. I have to mention that I haven’t experienced any kind of breakouts or additional redness due to this essence.
Another great hydrating skincare product is the Then I Met You Refining Toner. I sometimes use this toner instead of the Giving Essence since both of them provide different benefits for my skin. It works great for redness and evens out my skin tone.
So Is It Worth the Hype?
Honestly, I purchased this essence to see if it was truly worth the hype. I have come to the conclusion that to me it was. It does everything it promised to do. It does brighten and calm the skin while keeping it hydrated so you’re getting exactly what you wanted from it.
From what I have heard, it’s just as good as SK-11 but at a lower cost. I think the price for this essence is fair. If it’s just as good as the higher-end products then you’re getting a good bargain here. I do take some points down for the burning feeling that I experienced.
